
Maria Antonia Chaniotaki
Speech and Language Therapist – Head of the Speech Therapy Department
Maria Antonia Chaniotaki is a Speech and Language Therapist, a graduate of the Department of Speech and Language Therapy at the University of Patras, holding a Master’s degree in Swallowing Disorders from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. She has specialized in the field of dysphagia and has commenced her training in the performance of Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), with recognition from the European Society for Swallowing Disorders (ESSD).
She is an active member of the European Society for Swallowing Disorders, through which she regularly participates in continuing education programs and scientific activities, remaining consistently up to date with contemporary applications and techniques in the assessment and rehabilitation of dysphagia.
Her clinical experience includes the design and implementation of intervention programs for adults with neurological disorders, as well as for patients hospitalized in High Dependency Units. More specifically, she provides intervention for speech and language disorders such as dysarthria, aphasia, and apraxia of speech, as well as dysphagia, within the framework of comprehensive patient rehabilitation. At the same time, she is actively involved in research, publishing studies on swallowing disorders and dysphonia, aiming at the continuous improvement of clinical practice through scientific evidence.
Her goal is to provide individualized therapy based on the principles of Evidence-Based Practice, with respect for the needs and capabilities of each patient. She strongly believes in the interdisciplinary approach and actively promotes close interdepartmental collaboration, considering rehabilitation to be a holistic and collaborative process.
