Spuridon Zakinthinos  is a Professor Emeritus of Intensive Care and Pulmonology at the Medical School of EKPA, with extensive academic and clinical experience. He served as the Director of the 1st University Clinic of Intensive Care at the General Hospital “Evangelismos” for nearly a decade, and his total tenure there spans 31 years.

A graduate and Doctor of the Medical School of EKPA, Dr. Zakynthinos holds two specializations in Intensive Care and Sleep Medicine. He has further trained in leading centers abroad, such as McGill University in Canada, the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium, and Newcastle University in the UK.

His contribution to education is significant, having founded and directed the first postgraduate program at EKPA on Sleep Breathing Disorders. His research focuses on respiratory muscle function, sepsis, sleep apnea treatment, and patient rehabilitation, with more than 240 publications in prestigious international journals with an impact factor above 4700.

Today, he continues his work at the Attica Rehabilitation & Recovery Center, with sensitivity and empathy in the High Care Area. At the same time, he contributes to the education of the scientific community, always with a patient-centered approach and a focus on promoting high-quality medical care.
