Nutrition - Dietetics

Successful recovery and rehabilitation of a patient are directly and significantly related to proper and adequate nutritional status. Consequently, the role of a specialized Dietitian-Nutritionist is crucial, as a balanced and personalized diet tailored to the patient's needs and specific conditions can accelerate the healing process by strengthening the body and its defenses.

Personalized nutritional guidance

Upon the patient’s admission to Attica Rehabilitation & Recovery Center, the specialized Dietitian-Nutritionist, in collaboration with the Speech Therapist, assesses the swallowing ability and determines the texture of the diet, prioritizing a safe feeding and drinking process. The subsequent nutritional assessment shapes individualized dietary guidance, aiming to meet the patient’s nutritional needs in energy and nutrients, ensuring appropriate feeding based on any comorbidities and the patient’s preferences.

The main objectives of the Dietetics-Nutrition Department are:

  • Achieving a diet sufficient in energy and nutrients
  • Establishing a healthy weight in cases of underweight, overweight, or obese patients
  • Educating patients on the principles of a balanced diet according to their medical condition
  • Continuously monitoring and reassessing the nutritional status and weight progression of the patient, even after discharge.

Patient nutrition is an integral part of the therapeutic process and is carried out under the strictest hygiene protocols at Attica Rehabilitation & Recovery Center. These protocols cover the selection of raw materials, meal preparation in the center’s kitchen, and the serving and distribution process at the patient’s bedside.
