
Alexandros Papadimitriou
Emeritus Professor of Neurology

Alexandros Papadimitriou is an Emeritus Professor of Neurology at the Medical School of the University of Thessaly, with extensive academic and clinical experience. He served as the Director of the Neurology Department at the General Hospital of Athens “Koraylenio-Benakeio E.E.S.” and later as the Director of the University Neurology Department at the Larissa General University Hospital, which he himself organized.
He graduated and earned his Doctorate from the Medical School of the University of Athens (EKPA), and furthered his training at top centers abroad, including Columbia University in the USA. He also maintains research collaborations with the University of Cambridge and the University of Milan. In recent years, he has served as a Scientific Consultant in Neurology at the “Erikos Ntinan” Hospital Center.
His academic career includes over 130 scientific publications in prestigious international journals, with a total impact factor (Impact Factor) exceeding 450 and more than 2,500 citations (H-index=21). He has authored two neurology textbooks, four monographs, and two chapters in multi-author books published by major international publishers (Raven Press, McGraw Hill). Many of his works are cited in neurology textbooks.
Today, he continues his work at the Attica Rehabilitation & Recovery Center, with a vision to advance the understanding of the brain and the nervous system. He invests in research and innovation, seeking new treatments and diagnostic methods for neurological diseases, while also supporting the education of the next generation of neurologists and interdisciplinary approaches to improve the quality of life for patients.
